Each owner has until 11:59pm on Friday, May 25th to announce the cuts they will make to be in compliance with salary rules. This is a rigid deadline.
1. You must have a minimum of 22 salaried players on your roster after posting your cuts. 2. You must not exceed $70m in salary obligations. 3. New owners have one opportunity to rid themselves of bad contracts (see 16.12). 4. Owners may cut rookies from the previous year who are due to count against the salary cap. 5. Owners must sign a contract with or cut second year rookies. 6. Owners must sign or cut the previous year's free agent signings. 7. Veteran cuts will be penalized one half of the total due across the length of the contract. 8. Veterans who played no more than 3 games may be cut without penalty. (16.10) 9. Up to two players may be designated as tenderable. (16.5c) 10. Each team may optionally declare one veteran player with an expiring contract (3 years or greater in length) as a franchise player.
