Round 1 has gone about as I would have expected. No major surprises. With no clear super stud at the top, the first several picks could have gone in any order, though I did not think Hutchinson would fall all the way to #7.

Given that I own only Mitch Trubisky as my QB for next year, I had reluctantly planned on taking Kenny Pickett with my #20 pick. However, Pete had other plans. The guy next on my board was Trent McDuffie - so I am glad he fell to me.

Other observations...

--Jim from Pittsburg seems to always have a copy of my list - as Jameson Williams was also someone I was thinking about at 20.

--Some good value with the WR's and were they fell.

Salem has 8 picks on Tuesday - should be a fun and busy day!

When did Jimmy Johnson take over the Salem Steers ??
8 picks in the second round .... wow....
Who has Herschel Walker ... whoops, no politics :)

Trent McDuffie was the steal of round 1.
I almost picked him but I felt the need for speed on the offensive side of the ball so I went with Jason Williams...
Let's hope his injury heals quickly..

I already briefly discussed round 1. My favorite picks that round (code for players I really wanted)

1.18 Jermaine Johnson to Warrington
1.23 Tyler Linderbaum to Rolling Green

I thought all the picks were pretty good - no one taken way too early, IMO

Salem came into round 2 with picks 2.3, 2.7 and 2.20.

I traded LB Logan Wilson for pick 2.3 and so I sort of had my eye on Devin Lloyd with that pick. As a Pac-12 guy (Go Ducks), I really enjoyed watching Lloyd play.

With 2.7, I had lots of options -but I really wanted to shore up the defensive line this draft - and I thought Logan Hall was the best of what was left.

There were 2 guys who I really wanted this draft - the first was George Pickens. I don't know if I picked him too early, but I didn't want him to get away, so I grabbed him here.

I thought round 2 was another round where guys high on my board were flying off. Everyone did a great job once again.

Other picks I loved:
2.1 George Karaflitis to Tampa
2.4 Breece Hall to Black Hills
2.11 Arnold Ebikete to Atlanta
2.15 Kyler Gordon to Alabama
2.16 Quay Walker to Des
2.22 David Ojabo to Black Hills

In round 3, Salem had picks 3.7, 3.12, 3.13, 3.23, 3.24

With Malik Willis going at the end of round 2, my history of not doing a good job drafting QBs, and my overwhelming need for a QB, and picked Desmond Ridder at 3.7. I didn't want to risk him not making it to 3.12/13.

The 2nd guy I really wanted this draft was Perion Winfrey. I have learned from many drafts that you go and get the players you want. There is a good chance he would have been there at 3.23, but I would have been so upset if he was taken. I unnecessarily went back to back with DTs, picking Travis Jones at 3.12. Perhaps I should have gone another way, but Jones was super high on my board and I did want to shore up the Dline this draft.

At 3.23, I went with the best RB I thought was remaining with Tyron Davis-Price. As a 49ers fan, it sounds like he will get.a good opportunity for a good amount of snaps.

At 3.24 I went C/G Dylan Parham who I thought was the best Oline currently on my board.

Other picks I loved:
3.2 Cole Strange to Rolling Green
3.3 Isiah Spiller to Tampa
3.10 Try McBride to Bensalem
3.14 Boye Mafe to Moline
3.18 Christian Harris to Warington (would have definitely taken him at 3.23)
3.22 Nik Bonito to Vancouver

Round 4 - still a lot of good talent on the board. I think this was a deep draft. I had picks 4.7, and 4.12

At this point, looking for guys who will have a chance to compete for a job and/or be starters in the next year or two. Also trying to find guys at different positions I haven't drafted yet.

At 4.7, I took safety Bryan Cook. Thought it important to grab a safety since I just traded away Xavier McKinney.

at 4.12, I took the top guy on my board in LB Channing Tindall, even though LB was not a position of need.

Other picks I really liked.
4.4 Leo Chenal to Black Hills
4.5 Cam Jurgens to Edison
4.8 Sam Williams to Barcelona
4.11 Jalen Tolbert to Atlanta
4.17 Bernhard Raimann to Seattle
4.18 Cam Taylor Britt to Warrigton
4.24 Greg Dulcich to Bay City

I feel like round 5 is calculated dart throws. You do your research and hope for the best.

I had picks 5.7 and 5.20

One position I have continually struggled to draft and develop is CB. So I wanted at least one more in the draft. So I took Coby Bryant out of Seattle. We shall see.

5.20 I went with Zamir White - who may have a chance to start for the Raiders in a year or two. Who knows.

Other picks I loved.
5.1 Marcus Jones to Cleveland
5.2 Sean Rhyan to Tampa
5.6 Luke Goedeke to Edison
5.15 Velus Jones to Alabama
5.24 Khalil Shakir to Bay City
5.25 Tariq Woolen to Pittsburg (the guy who may end up beating Bryant for the CB job!)
