Current Rule: Rule 4.4 includes a team must carry a certain minimum number of players at each position.
Proposed Rule: For offensive lineman, defensive lineman, and defensive backs, only players with a durability rating of six (6) or more count towards the minimum number of players at a position.
Explanation: There is no minimum number of healthy players per game. I’ve seen games where teams have only 2 healthy CB or 1 healthy OT and so players have to play out of position. This proposal attempts to avoid that so that teams are more competitive by not having players play out of position. Skills positions are not included as we have minimum attempt/reception requirement for those positions.
I feel strongly in this proposal which will make teams more competitive when multiple player injuries occur. At least one team played a game with only two healthy CB's last season. Along with the proposals to modify the injured reserve rule and creating a practice squad/development roster, I strongly encourage everyone to vote FOR this AND those two proposals.
I cannot believe this isn't any support for this. For all the comments about team losing games to get better draft picks, this rule would limit, if not eliminate, teams playing short-handed. Like the team with only two healthy CB's who is almost 100% certain to lose the game.

Jim - the other positions are skills positions - and we have minimums for the season, which we are increasing. This takes care of the non-skill positions.
And yes, I agree with this rule if we can add the additional IR and/or practice squad rules.
