Current Rule: 4.7: Injured Reserve. KRFL will allow returning players to be retained by their KRFL team on an injured
reserve (IR) squad if they are “uncarded” in the DKSports APCFB game

Proposed Rule: During roster cutdown time, before the draft, teams may put any player with a durability rating of 3 or below on the injured reserve. Any player put on injured reserve is ineligible to play the entire season. The salary of any player on IR counts against the cap

Explanation: This rule allows for a bit more roster flexibility. Instead of having players with very low durability who miss will miss most of the season with injuries, teams have the option of putting that player on IR and being able to fill the active roster with higher durability.

As an adjunct to my proposal to require teams to have a minimum number of players with durability ratings of at least 6 at certain position categories, I support this proposal as it will give teams some roster flexibility to fill those positions and allow rebuilding teams to keep injured players instead of cutting them and absorbing a salary cap penalty. A durability rating of 3 is the same criteria that is used to allow a team to release an injured player without a salary cap penalty. This proposal uses the same criteria but gives a team the option to keep the player.
